Russia Open to Trilateral Talks with US and Ukraine on War

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Kremlin announced on Monday that Russia does not consider the resumption of trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine regarding the war to be out of the question. This statement follows the recent visits of U.S. representatives Steve Witcoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv. The last direct meeting between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators occurred in February during U.S.-mediated talks in Geneva. However, no agreement was reached on the sensitive issue of territory, and negotiations have not resumed since then.

Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, stated that Russia does not dismiss the prospect of resuming negotiations in a trilateral format. He added, however, that it is too early at this stage to discuss the venue or precise date for such talks. Witcoff and Kushner met with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky over the weekend in an effort to find a new path toward ending the war. A senior source within the Ukrainian Presidential Office told Agence France-Presse that the two American officials presented “more effective” proposals for ending the conflict. Nevertheless, neither Moscow nor Kyiv has reported significant breakthroughs.
