Israeli Navy Chief Sends Overt Warning to Turkey Over Mediterranean Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli Navy Commander, Eyal Harel, delivered a significant warning message to Turkey during a ceremony marking the graduation of naval officers. Harel stated that the vast distances would not prevent Israeli soldiers from reaching individuals or entities perceived as threats to Tel Aviv.

He further elaborated that geographical separation offers no immunity to those acting against Israel.

Although Harel did not explicitly name any country, security and military circles within Israel believe that the identity of the opposing party is evident, particularly in light of the increasing maritime tensions in the Mediterranean. This message is widely understood as a clear signal directed at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Recent maritime incidents have heightened tensions between the two nations. Notably, an Israeli vessel navigating near Cyprus narrowly avoided a naval confrontation with four Turkish destroyers. These developments have significantly altered the perspective of Israeli military and security establishments regarding Turkey.

Harel has reportedly conveyed in internal meetings that Tel Aviv might face potential conflict not only with Syria but also with Turkey in the coming years.
