US Mulls Military Drawdown in Region Amid Shifting Alliances, Iran War Aftermath

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta has reported that the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence services are examining the possibility of decreasing American military presence in the region after the conclusion of the war against Iran. This consideration extends beyond merely not rebuilding bases damaged by Iran’s retaliatory strikes to include the relocation of some combat and intelligence infrastructure outside the region.

Anton Mardasov, a regional affairs analyst, emphasized that the transition to a new phase of reviewing tactics and strategies is a consequence of the war against Iran. In this context, the Pentagon is seeking to strengthen cooperation with its regional partners.

He added that despite this, the U.S. faces the risk of regional powers engaging in negotiations for secret agreements with Iran regarding non-aggression. These countries are demonstrating greater independence in their bilateral relations with the U.S. and in participating in various blocs. While this might be viewed favorably in terms of fostering a multipolar world, it could exacerbate tensions between several countries and Israel, potentially worsening the situation.
