Macron Discusses Hormuz Strait, Energy Security, and EU Gas Projects
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Friday that France is collaborating with Iraq and Jordan to develop a pipeline for transferring gas and oil from Iraq to the European market. He also emphasized the acceleration of gas storage projects within Europe to mitigate energy price burdens and provide alternative solutions for consumers.
Macron highlighted that conflicts in the Middle East exacerbate the energy crisis, leading to increased suffering for citizens due to rising gasoline and fuel prices. He clarified that the energy crisis is not solely a French concern but affects all European nations.
The French President asserted that France had no involvement in the conflict that led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Nevertheless, France is confronting its consequences and participated in an international mission to escort oil tankers and ensure their safe passage through the strategic waterway. Macron concluded by calling for a diplomatic resolution that guarantees the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
