US Congress Clashes Intensify Over Iran War Strategy, Defense Secretary Hagget Faces Scrutiny

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The Wall Street Journal has reported that internal disagreements within the U.S. Congress regarding the performance of Defense Secretary Pete Hagget have intensified. Criticisms are mounting over the dismissal of military commanders and the management of the war against Iran without a defined exit strategy. This situation highlights a growing dissatisfaction among U.S. lawmakers with Hagget’s approach, as they contend he is politicizing the nation’s military forces.

The report indicates that Hagget narrowly avoided a potential impeachment vote in the House of Representatives, with the Speaker postponing sessions until after the U.S. midterm elections on November 3rd. Earlier, on September 15th, Republican Representative Thomas Massie called for Hagget’s impeachment, asserting that the Defense Secretary is continuing incursions against Iran without congressional authorization. Several lawmakers believe that tensions with the Defense Secretary could hinder the Pentagon’s efforts to secure supplementary funding.

Furthermore, the Senate Armed Services Committee, predominantly comprised of Republicans, recently opposed the appointment of Sean Barnaby, Hagget’s deputy, to the position of Secretary of the Army.
