Yemen Urges Global Pressure on Saudi Arabia to End Blockade Amid Civilian Casualties

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that 47 civilians were killed or injured in the initial reports following a Saudi Arabian attack on the central market in Taiz, specifically in the ‘Mafraq Mawiya’ region. This information was published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al Masirah channel.

The ministry also stated that diplomatic notes detailing the “crime of targeting the central market of Taiz” have been dispatched to the United Nations, the Security Council, and the European and African Unions.

Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the targeting of civilian sites and markets as a “clear violation of international humanitarian law” and a continuation of the alleged Saudi Arabian atrocities over the past 12 years.

The ministry appealed to the global community to pressure Saudi Arabia to halt attacks on civilians, cease hostilities, and lift the blockade on Yemen.

Furthermore, the ministry asserted that the international community bears legal and moral responsibility for its silence in the face of war crimes in Yemen.

Concluding its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Yemen reserves the legitimate right to self-defense and to counter hostile actions, in accordance with all international laws and charters.
