Russia Warns US Military Infrastructure in Afghanistan Poses Regional Threat

Russia’s Security Council Deputy Secretary Alexander Venediktov has stated that the United States’ plans to re-establish military infrastructure in Afghanistan pose a direct threat to all regional nations. Moscow views such developments as a motive for its security dialogues with Kabul.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia’s Security Council Deputy Secretary Alexander Venediktov announced on Monday that the United States is not concealing its intentions to redeploy military infrastructure to Afghanistan. He asserted that the potential establishment of American military facilities in the country would represent a direct threat to all nations in the region.

Venediktov further elaborated that the formation of such a base would directly imperil the entire region. He also noted that Russia’s security dialogues with Afghanistan are aimed at preventing the re-establishment of a presence by extra-regional powers. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about the future security landscape in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of international forces.
