US Rejects Kyiv’s Demand for Concessions on Russian Oil Refinery Strikes

American negotiators have informed Ukrainian representatives that Washington will not grant Kyiv any concessions in exchange for halting attacks on Russian oil refineries, according to reports.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, The New York Times reported that American negotiators told Ukrainian representatives that Washington will not grant Kyiv any concessions in exchange for stopping attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, American negotiators during Friday’s talks in Miami, in response to a question from a Ukrainian representative about what concessions Kyiv would receive if it stopped its attacks, emphasized that Washington has already taken many steps to support Ukraine and should not give any further concessions in exchange for halting these attacks.

According to The New York Times, some attendees at the meeting interpreted Witkoff and Kushner’s remarks as an indirect threat. The American negotiators also referred to Washington’s intelligence assistance, which is critically important for Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on October 13th that Kyiv had received no notification from the United States about Russian missile launches the previous night.
