Moscow Thwarts Massive Ukrainian Drone Incursion, Mayor Reports

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that air defenses intercepted and neutralized 493 Ukrainian drones targeting the capital region between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. The majority of the unmanned aerial vehicles were downed at a distance from the city center.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported on Wednesday that his city successfully repelled a significant aerial assault, neutralizing 493 Ukrainian drones that were heading towards the Moscow region. The operation took place from 8:30 PM on Tuesday, October 13, to 7:00 AM on Wednesday, October 14.

Sobyanin stated in a message that 180 of the drones were destroyed as they approached the capital. He emphasized that the Russian air defense forces primarily intercepted these drones in areas further away from Moscow, thereby minimizing any direct impact on the city itself.

Emergency response teams are currently operating at the sites where the debris from the downed drones has fallen, according to the mayor’s statement.
