Oman: Hormuz Strait Deal Contingent on Iran-US Talks

Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al Busaidi, stated that any agreement on the Hormuz Strait’s security is directly tied to the outcomes of ongoing discussions between Iran and the United States. He indicated that while preliminary arrangements are in place with Iran, their finalization awaits the results of broader Iran-US dialogue.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Al Busaidi, announced that achieving a definitive agreement concerning the Hormuz Strait hinges on the results of ongoing talks between Tehran and Washington. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Al Busaidi confirmed that discussions regarding the Hormuz arrangements have concluded. However, he elaborated that the finalization of these arrangements is dependent on the outcomes of negotiations between Iran and the U.S., as well as other outstanding issues.

The Omani minister further explained that a temporary agreement has been reached with Iran concerning interim arrangements. This provisional accord is set to remain in effect until the conclusion of the talks between the United States and Iran. Al Busaidi arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a two-day visit. Earlier on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced via a post on the social media platform X that Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar held discussions with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi.
