Ukraine Depletes Patriot Missile Interceptor Stockpile, Facing Increased Russian Threat

Ukraine has exhausted its supply of Patriot missile interceptors, leaving the nation significantly more vulnerable to Russian ballistic missile attacks, according to a CNN report citing an informed source.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CNN, citing an informed source, reported that Ukraine has depleted its reserves of interceptor missiles for the American-made Patriot air defense system. This situation leaves the country more vulnerable to Russian ballistic missile attacks.

The informed source stated that Ukraine no longer possesses the necessary missiles for the Patriot system. According to the source, during the latest Russian attack, “almost all ballistic missiles were not intercepted due to a shortage of interceptor missiles.”

The report indicated that during the Russian missile attack, which lasted from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, three power plants in Kyiv were targeted, and energy infrastructure in Kharkiv was also attacked.

CNN reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly warned over recent months about the dwindling reserves of American-made interceptor missiles and has been in consultations with allies to secure new shipments.

According to the CNN report, Patriot interceptor missiles are facing supply shortages in the global market, in addition to their high price. Military aggression in various territories and the consumption of some countries’ reserves to bolster their defense systems against potential future attacks have placed further strain on existing resources.
