Trump Orders Suspension of Certain Sanctions Against Russia

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an order to suspend some sanctions and tariffs targeting Russia, just days before they were set to take effect.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order on Friday to suspend certain sanctions and key customs tariffs related to Russia, days before their scheduled implementation under a law signed last month. This exemption includes tariffs imposed on goods and sanctions concerning the sale of Russian oil and gas. Trump stated on Friday that this action is in the best interests of the United States. The aforementioned law was signed to exert further pressure on Russia due to the war in Ukraine, but Trump has recently criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly and sharply, aligning closer with Russia. According to the Russian Sanctions Bill, whose main proponent in Congress was the late Senator Lindsey Graham, tariffs of up to 100% were to be imposed on all Russian goods exported to the United States, including crude oil and natural gas.
