Israeli Warplanes Bombard Southern Lebanon Amidst Ongoing Tensions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al Mayadeen network’s correspondent has reported new Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon. Israeli fighter jets conducted two waves of attacks, bombarding the towns of Al-Qantarah and Bani Hayyan in the southern region. Additionally, the Israeli artillery engaged in shelling of the towns of Mansouri and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, also in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese sources have indicated that Israeli military forces have caused damage to olive orchards in Zawtar al-Sharqiyah. Explosions were reported by these sources, attributed to occupation forces in the towns of Yahmar Al-Chakif and Aita al-Shaab, in the vicinity of the Kunin-Beit Hanoun area, and the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah.
Several hours prior, Lebanese sources reported that the Israeli army detonated and leveled two homes located between the villages of Aita al-Jabal and Beit Yahoun in southern Lebanon. The Ain al-Samahiyah area, situated between Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Mayfoud in the Nabatieh district, was also targeted by Israeli artillery shelling.
Simultaneously, Lebanese media outlets reported that Israeli forces engaged in the destruction and uprooting of olive trees in the “Wazzad” area of Kfar Shuba town in southern Lebanon. It is noteworthy that the Israeli regime launched a widespread offensive against Lebanon starting on March 2, 2026, which has resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of Lebanese citizens, with over one million people displaced. Significant areas in the south of the country remain under Israeli occupation.
In parallel, Lebanon and the Israeli regime signed a “Framework Agreement” in early July 2026, mediated by the United States. This agreement aims to put an end to the conflict between the Israeli regime and Hezbollah, following several rounds of direct negotiations between the two parties in Washington. However, Tel Aviv has thus far refrained from fully implementing its commitments and continues its attacks and destruction of residential areas, particularly in the border regions of southern Lebanon. Over recent months, the Israeli regime has repeatedly violated Lebanon’s sovereignty through continuous military attacks and incursions into southern Lebanon, causing extensive human and infrastructural damage.
