Protesters Storm Marseille City Hall Amid Ongoing French Unrest

Protesters in Marseille have stormed the city hall, breaching its doors amidst widespread and continuing unrest across France. The incident follows similar acts of vandalism and arson in other French cities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, protests and civil unrest in France have escalated, with demonstrators in Marseille attacking and entering the city’s municipal building. The facade of the Marseille City Hall was breached by protesters who reportedly used security barriers removed from the streets to force entry.

This development comes as French media reported earlier that the tourism office in Lyon was set ablaze amidst the ongoing nationwide turmoil. In Marseille, masked individuals reportedly smashed windows and vandalized parts of the city hall before setting it on fire. BFMTV also reported looting at the scene, with police and firefighters en route.

France has been experiencing a wave of unrest for approximately one month, sparked by protests from a group of students in the Paris suburbs regarding unsatisfactory conditions in educational institutions. Additionally, a planned demonstration in Paris on Saturday was delayed due to clashes between protesters and police, resulting in several arrests.

Paris, the French capital, along with several other cities, witnessed large-scale protest gatherings on Saturday. Initial confrontations between protesters and law enforcement were reported as high school students and members of the Yellow Vest movement took to the streets of Paris.
