US Envoy to Visit Oslo for Ukraine Peace Talks, Potential Russia Trip Planned

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of United States President Donald Trump, is scheduled to visit Oslo, the capital of Norway, on Tuesday for negotiations concerning the conflict in Ukraine. This development was reported by Axios, citing an American official and referencing data published by the Mehr News Agency.
The summit in Oslo is expected to include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and representatives from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Poland. Officials from the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) are also anticipated to participate.
The primary objective of this meeting is to continue consultations aimed at formulating a comprehensive peace proposal that can be presented to Russia. An informed source indicated that Washington, Kyiv, and their European partners have been collaborating at the expert level over the past week to prepare this peace initiative.
Axios further reported that following the Oslo talks, Witkoff intends to travel to Russia. Should circumstances permit, he is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to convey the proposals developed in conjunction with Ukraine and its European partners to the Russian side.
Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and another representative involved in this diplomatic effort, will not be attending the Oslo summit in person due to influenza. He is slated to participate in the discussions remotely.
These consultations are taking place amidst ongoing disagreements between Washington and Kyiv regarding the pace and scope of American military support for Ukraine. President Zelenskyy has recently expressed concerns about delays in the delivery of certain weaponry and limitations on information exchange and the use of the Starshield satellite system. US officials have refuted Ukraine’s claims regarding restrictions on support.
