Europe Faces Winter with Record Low Gas Reserves, Warns International Energy Agency

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Europe is entering the winter with historically low gas reserves, according to Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Birol stated that the continent lacks the capacity to cope with further disruptions to its energy supply.
He noted that Europe’s high dependency on Middle Eastern fuel, coupled with the potential closure of the Strait of Hormuz during a conflict between the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, has had a severe impact on the continent.
Birol emphasized the urgency of establishing a ceasefire, remarking, “The best day for a ceasefire was yesterday.”
He added that European countries typically possess substantial gas reserves before the onset of winter. However, current reserves are considerably lower than the historical average.
The IEA chief cautioned that conditions for Europe will be challenging this year and next. In the event of a harsh winter, there is a possibility of increased natural gas prices across the continent.
