Turkish Foreign Minister: No Support for Military Intervention in Iran

Ankara reaffirms that a military strike against Iran would broaden the conflict, with no nation supporting such an action, according to a joint statement following regional talks in Istanbul.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated following a summit in Istanbul that there is a universal consensus against military intervention in Iran, emphasizing that such an action would inevitably expand the scope of the ongoing conflict.

Fidan elaborated that a military intervention against Iran is by no means a solution and currently lacks support from any nation. He highlighted that the countries participating in the Istanbul discussions are unified in their desire to prevent any escalation of the war.

The minister indicated that key participants including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey share a common perspective and are conveying a singular message. He also noted that discussions addressed Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the crises in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab strait, along with their regional and global ramifications. All nations present at the Istanbul meeting underscored the imperative to cease attacks on Saudi Arabia.

The summit, held in Istanbul, brought together the foreign ministers of four European nations, referred to as the ‘E4’ (Germany, France, the UK, and Italy), and four regional partners, designated as ‘R4’ (Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey). The meeting convened to assess the latest developments in the region.
