Iran Dismisses Trump’s Claims on Vance Letter, Cites US Stance on Nuclear Issues

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an informed Iranian official speaking to Al Mayadeen network clarified that a recent exchange of letters occurred between the Vice President of the United States and Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The official noted that such communications between officials of the two countries are not unprecedented.
The official stressed that senior U.S. officials resorting to sending letters indicates Washington’s inability to achieve its objectives through other means. Furthermore, the official firmly rejected Donald Trump’s assertion that the letter from J.D. Vance was sent in response to Tehran’s request for medicine and equipment, indicating that Tehran would disclose details of the message at the appropriate time.
The official elaborated that the Islamic Republic will not take any new steps until the seven stipulated conditions for the Americans are met. The resumption of activity in the Strait of Hormuz or the initiation of any new negotiations is contingent upon the implementation of these exact conditions, which Tehran views as red lines from which it will not retreat.
According to the official, the renewed focus on the nuclear issue signifies Washington’s attempt to strip Iran of its nuclear deterrence capability. The United States aims to dismantle or seize Iran’s nuclear capacities through psychological and diplomatic pressures. The official questioned why the Americans continue to demand enriched uranium if they claim to have facilitated its destruction. Tehran fears that transferring enriched materials out of the country could serve as a pretext for another Washington-led aggression rather than an end to conflict.
The Iranian official also urged mediators to adhere to the rules of mediation and refrain from imposing Washington’s demands. Tehran rejects mediations limited to conveying U.S. requests and pressuring for their acceptance, and will not back down from its seven-point positions in the face of political and diplomatic pressure. While expressing Tehran’s goodwill towards the Persian Gulf states, the official warned that no party would be allowed to exploit the situation.
The official concluded with a warning that the utilization of U.S. bases in regional countries to harm Iran’s interests will be met with a proportional response. No one has the right to object to retaliatory measures against the territories hosting actions detrimental to Iran’s interests. The official dismissed assessments by American media suggesting that the correspondence signifies diplomatic progress or a retreat by Tehran, stating that Washington is attempting to portray the ongoing conflict as an achievement by highlighting the nuclear file.
