Russia and China Target Record Trade Volume Reaching Up to 280 Billion Dollars in 2026

Russia and China are on track to shatter previous bilateral trade records, with projections indicating that total economic exchanges could reach between 270 and 280 billion dollars by the end of 2026.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Alexei Dakhnovsky, Russia’s trade representative in China, announced in an interview with RIA Novosti that bilateral trade exchanges between the two nations are set to surpass new milestones this year, potentially reaching figures between 270 and 280 billion dollars.

The Russian economic official further noted that current economic targets have been structured and formulated to achieve this range by the conclusion of 2026. Alongside the growth in trade value, transforming the structure of mutual transactions remains a high priority for Moscow, requiring both capitals to increase the diversification of traded goods and expand joint cooperation across industrial, technological, and commercial sectors.

Dakhnovsky estimated the current share of the services sector in bilateral trade to be under five percent, emphasizing that this sector holds significant potential to elevate its contribution up to twenty percent.

Based on statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of China, the value of bilateral trade between Moscow and Beijing during the first nine months of 2026 registered a 30.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year, totaling 214 billion and 306 million dollars.

The previous peak in trade volume between Russia and China was recorded in 2024 at 244 billion and 800 million dollars, which subsequently experienced a 6.9 percent decline in 2025 down to 228 billion and 105 million dollars. Consequently, the new official projection indicates that bilateral trade volume will decisively surpass the record high established in 2024.
