Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized during an interview with Arabic-language media that the recent parliamentary measure regarding Yemen simply grants necessary authorizations without implying any direct deployment of Egyptian troops.

Abdelatty added that Cairo continues to pursue efforts aimed at restoring stability to Yemen, creating conditions favorable for reviving previous agreements, and paving the way for the resumption of future political dialogue.

Earlier on October 26, the Egyptian House of Representatives secured a two-thirds majority vote to empower the president to implement contingency measures in coordination with Riyadh to safeguard Saudi Arabia against external aggression. The legal measure followed closed-door parliamentary sessions held on October 18, 19, and 26 at the formal request of the Egyptian presidency.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi previously asserted that Cairo’s military posture strictly confines itself to the defense of Saudi Arabia and will not target Yemeni territory under any circumstances.
