Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever Rumored to Resign Amid Budget Impasse

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever intends to resign from his position following a severe political stalemate over the country’s upcoming budget, according to reports from the Belgian newspaper De Standaard citing anonymous informed sources.
The publication indicated that the Belgian royal institution confirmed De Wever is scheduled to arrive at the royal palace at 9:30 AM to officially tender his resignation to the king. Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that the monarch may potentially reject the resignation and instead ask the Prime Minister to restart discussions with political factions and parties within the ruling coalition.
Prior to these developments, De Wever had raised alarms by emphasizing that achieving a consensus on the budget by Thursday was an absolute necessity. Concurrently, these political tremors have coincided with widespread street demonstrations in Belgium this week, where numerous young citizens gathered to voice their strong opposition to austerity measures and educational reforms.
Demonstrators demanded increased financial backing for the education sector, improvements to public purchasing power, and enhanced social services, while also condemning aggressive police tactics. Security forces deployed tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the crowds gathered at Albertine Square. Protesters explicitly rejected federal government policies and subsequently set fire to police-established barriers in the Saint-Gilles district.
