Donald Trump Claims Tehran Seeks Negotiations Ahead of US Midterms

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US President Donald Trump, speaking with the aim of impacting the energy market on the threshold of the country’s midterm elections, reiterated his claim that Tehran is willing to engage in talks.
Without addressing the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, the US president claimed in a promotional statement that regime change in Iran is not strictly necessary to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Trump made these remarks while omitting any reference to his repeated violations of commitments toward Iran—including his unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA nuclear agreement and the unilateral cancellation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding. He asserted that the main challenge lies in determining the appropriate negotiating counterpart in Iran, adding that the United States has not yet dealt a decisive blow to Iran because Tehran allegedly wants to negotiate with Washington.
