According to the regional office of Tasnim News Agency, the border crossing “Torkham” between Afghanistan and Pakistan was reopened from today, Tuesday (Bahman 3), after being blocked for 11 days and Islamabad’s acceptance to remove traffic restrictions until March 31.

This important border crossing was closed to vehicles carrying commercial goods after Pakistan’s unilateral action and requiring visas for Afghan drivers, and after that, Pakistan also closed its other commercial crossings with Afghanistan.

“Express Tribune” reported that the Pakistani authorities have extended the conditions of traffic for drivers of Afghan trucks without visa until the end of March.

It is not yet clear whether other crossings, including Gholam Khan in Khost and Kharlachi in Paktia, have also been opened.

According to this report, the decision to reopen Torkham was made after a delegation consisting of transport officials and representatives of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce met with Pakistani business officials.Taliban authorities had also warned the Pakistani side that if they do not reach a bilateral agreement, they will close the borders of Torkham and Kharlachi with Pakistan forever.
