According to the report of the international group Tasnim news agency quoting “TASS” news agency, the British “Times” newspaper reported on Tuesday, referring to the data of the Institute of Demography and Social Research at the Kyiv National Academy of Sciences, that Ukraine has the lowest fertility rate in the whole world.

According to this study, on average, each Ukrainian woman of reproductive age (from 15 to 50 years) gives birth to only 0.7 children, while the life expectancy in Ukraine for men is 57 to 58 years. which is one of the lowest levels worldwide.

The newspaper noted that thus “the future demographic picture in Ukraine has a very grim fate” and “the lack of children, which has been aggravated by the number of their massive and violent deaths and the migration of millions of Ukrainian refugees, has seriously questioned the survival of this country”.

Politically, Ukraine should be ready to accept this fact and deal wisely with its immigration problem, and it may even have to accept immigrants from other countries, including from Asian countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, as well as from Eastern European countries.

Earlier, at the end of last year, the German magazine “Focus” reported that in the first half of 2023, about 93,500 children were born in Ukraine. This figure is 28% less than the same period in 2021. According to this information, even before the start of the Russian military offensive, the birth rate in Ukraine did not guarantee sustainable population development, where there should be at least 210 children for every 100 women. In 2021, this number will reach 116, and in 2022, the number of births will decrease by another 25 percent.

The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine also warned last year that the country For a long time, it has witnessed a continuous decrease in the birth rate, and due to the continuation of this process, the risk of the Ukrainian population falling into a “death spiral” is very serious.

Before, experts The Japanese had reported a catastrophic decrease in the population of Ukraine. According to official data, in 1991, 55 million people lived in Ukraine, and in 2001, this number decreased to 47 million people, and this trend has continued to decline over the following years. According to Ukrainian experts, the population of this country has recently decreased from 36 to 25 million people. According to them, even if the military conflict with Russia ends, migration from Ukraine will continue due to poor social and economic conditions.

At the same time, these figures are apart from the fact that during the military conflicts with Russia, a large number of Ukrainian men have lost their lives, and their exact number has not yet been revealed.
