Armenia’s response to Aliyev: You are not serious about signing the peace treaty
Following the request of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Armenia to change the constitution, an Armenian government official stated on Saturday that Baku is not serious about signing the peace treaty. |
According to the report of the international group of Fars News Agency, an official of the Armenian government said on Saturday, referring to the request of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Yerevan to implement fundamental changes in the constitution. Baku is not serious about signing a peace treaty with Armenia. .html”>Radio Free Europe” Edmon Marukian, one of the senior diplomats of Armenia, said that Aliyev thus created a “completely new precondition” for the peace agreement that has been discussed by the two sides for the past 2 years.
Alif last Thursday said that if Armenia wants to make peace with the Republic of Azerbaijan, it should change its constitution and other documents.
He specifically objected to the Constitution of Armenia, which he said violates the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In the fall of 2020, the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated several cities, villages and settlements in a 44-day battle, and the war with Armenia ended with the mediation of Russia.
Maroukian said: “The Republic of Azerbaijan avoids signing the peace treaty and continuously raises new demands throughout the negotiation process, thus undermining the peace process.”
He said that endless demands prove that Baku does not want peace in the region.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Baku and Yerevan want mutual guarantees. And they clearly show that none of them have territorial claims against each other.
Pashinyan said: “We are looking for more mutual guarantees from the Republic of Azerbaijan, and they are doing the same.” They want us to make sure that there are no territorial differences between us.” They should answer whether they are interested in establishing peace or not.”
