As the protests escalated, South Korean hospital doctors were put on red alert

Following the Korean doctors' strike against the recent decisions of the country's government, almost the majority of hospitals canceled the admission of new patients.

Almost two-thirds of South Korea’s young doctors have gone on strike this week, causing hospitals to cancel accepting new patients. In this regard, the emergency department of almost all major hospitals in this country was put on red alert.

According to Reuters, doctors are protesting the government’s plan to increase enrollment in medical schools. They say that increasing admissions jeopardizes the quality of medical education.
So far, more than 8,400 doctors have joined this strike, which is equivalent to 64% of all doctors and medical interns in South Korea. It is feared that if this trend continues, the disruptions in South Korea’s treatment system will become more widespread.

The government has threatened to arrest protesting doctors. The authorities also asked the doctors to stop protesting and prioritize the health of the patients.

It should be said, according to polls, 76% of Korean people support the government’s plan.

Previously, the employees of the treatment department of England went on strike in March of last year, after which the statistics center of this country announced that the death rate increased by 11%.
