NATO rejected the creation of a pan-European nuclear force

NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has rejected the idea of a pan-European nuclear force independent of NATO.

reported by Mehr News Agency quoted by News, Yens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of NATO, rejected the idea of forming a European nuclear force independent of this alliance, considering the current nuclear deterrence system within the framework of NATO.

Stoltenberg said in his speech at the Munich Security Conference: The idea of creating a kind of parallel joint nuclear deterrent system between some members NATO will not be useful without the participation of the United States and the United Kingdom and will only weaken (NATO).”

He stressed that all discussions that question the existing nuclear deterrence system will undermine the work of an alliance like NATO.

Former US President Donald Trump recently said that the United States would not defend the alliance if Russia attacked, indicating that NATO countries are not spending enough to develop their defenses.

In response to these statements, a number of German and European politicians called for the creation of a European army and a separate European missile shield.

Stoltenberg explained these calls and announced that Trump’s statements should not lead to the collapse of the NATO alliance.
