What is the position of Pelosi and Obama about Biden’s candidacy for the presidency?

Two of the most powerful figures of the Democratic Party, who have a lot of influence on the opinion of other members, have taken on quiet and behind-the-scenes roles to remove US President Joe Biden from the race for the official Democratic nomination.

According to Politico, these two people are Barack Obama, the former president of the United States and Nancy Pelosi, the former speaker of the United States House of Representatives. It is said that Obama has been in contact with “George Clooney”, the famous actor of the American cinema, who published a controversial article about Biden’s resignation yesterday. George Clooney, who is one of the financial donors of the Democratic Party, in this article published in the New York Times, asks Biden to withdraw from the presidential candidacy and emphasizes that he is not the same Biden of 2020. George Clooney and Obama are close, and both were spotted at a Biden fundraiser in Los Angeles. Now informed sources say that Obama did not encourage Clooney to publish this article, but at the same time, he did not oppose it either. 

On the other hand, Nancy Pelosi has acted much more bluntly and recklessly. He said Biden would not win this fall’s election and should step down, according to 12 lawmakers. In fact, he has told Democrats that they must do whatever it takes to secure the re-election of a member of the party as president, even if it means Biden stepping down. However, Pelosi advised these members to wait until the end of the NATO meeting held in Washington out of respect for Biden and national security. It is said that some members of the Democratic Party have already written their draft statements to request Biden’s resignation and are ready to publish it as soon as the meeting ends. 

To sum up, the more private discussions between members of the Democratic Party show that an event that seemed very unreal until 2 weeks ago has now become more serious and that Biden may actually be forced to step down.
