Russian Intelligence Chief Confirms Secret Meeting with CIA Director in Moscow

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin stated that his recent meeting with CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Moscow focused on a range of issues pertinent to the operations of intelligence agencies.

Naryshkin added that nothing unusual occurred during the meeting, characterizing face-to-face encounters between heads of security services as a standard part of their professional activities. He elaborated that several matters within the remit of the respective agencies were discussed during this session.

The SVR chief emphasized that meetings with leaders of security and intelligence organizations from various continents are a routine aspect of his work, occurring on an almost weekly basis. Therefore, he noted, his meeting with John Ratcliffe was simply part of his professional engagements.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov commented on the meeting, suggesting it was premature to assess its impact on the revival of Russia-U.S. relations and their exit from the current deep crisis.

Previous media reports had highlighted the confidential nature of the CIA Director’s trip to Russia, noting its lack of announcement by the White House.
