Poland Expresses Doubt on EU Seizing Russian Assets for Ukraine

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has voiced skepticism regarding the European Union’s potential decision to seize frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine. Tusk believes a consensus on the matter is unlikely at the upcoming EU summit.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Poland‘s Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that the European Union is unlikely to decide on confiscating frozen Russian assets in its upcoming meeting. Tusk made the remarks following a gathering of European leaders with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“There is a distance of light-years, not just ordinary years, before Russian assets can be used to rebuild Ukraine or provide military assistance to it,” Tusk said in a news conference. He further added that his “inner feeling” suggests no fundamental decision would be made on the matter at the European Council meeting.

Opposition to seizing Russian assets to provide loans to Ukraine is reportedly growing. European officials are concerned that the Ukrainian crisis is creating a crisis for the entire continent. They believe that allocating Moscow’s assets to Kyiv would discredit the Eurozone and fuel inflation across Europe.
