Maduro Emphasizes Strengthening Strategic Relations with Russia in 2026

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro affirmed that strategic relations between Caracas and Moscow will continue to grow in the coming year, following a recent phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two nations aim to deepen cooperation across various sectors, with Venezuela hosting a high-level intergovernmental commission meeting in early 2026.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has announced that strategic relations between Caracas and Moscow are set to strengthen further into 2026.

Maduro highlighted a recent phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that ambitious goals have been set to transform 2026 into a year of expanded strategic cooperation between the two nations.

Caracas is scheduled to host a high-level intergovernmental commission meeting in the first quarter of 2026, with the participation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

This collaboration occurs as Venezuela faces significant U.S. sanctions and military threats. Russia has issued warnings against any military action targeting Caracas.

Venezuela and Cuba remain key allies of Russia in Latin America.
