Russia Continues Oil Support for Cuba Amid US Naval Blockade Considerations

Russia has pledged ongoing oil support to Cuba as reports indicate the Trump administration is considering a naval blockade to cut off the island’s fuel supplies, with further actions against Cuba’s government anticipated by 2026.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia will maintain its oil support for Cuba, as confirmed by Viktor Koronelli, the Russian ambassador to Havana. This commitment comes amid reports that the Trump administration is evaluating a naval blockade to disrupt Cuba’s oil supply.

Political news outlet Politico revealed that US officials are actively discussing measures to isolate Cuba’s energy imports. The Wall Street Journal further reported that the Trump administration plans to take action against Cuba’s government by the end of 2026, following the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

US strategists are reportedly exploring ways to leverage Cuban government insiders to destabilize the country’s political system, mirroring tactics used in Venezuela. The geopolitical standoff highlights escalating tensions between Washington and Havana, with Moscow reinforcing its alliance with the Caribbean nation through continued energy cooperation.
