Syrian Army Member Linked to Golan Heights Regime Killed in Mysterious Attack

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Syrian media has reported the death of a Syrian army member linked to the Golan Heights regime, who was targeted by unknown individuals. The attack occurred in the city of Al-Mayadin, situated in the eastern Deir ez-Zor province of Syria. As of now, no individual or group has claimed responsibility for this attack. However, in similar incidents over the past few days, the terrorist group ISIS has been identified as responsible for such operations.

Early Monday morning, local sources in Syria had reported attacks by elements affiliated with ISIS against a checkpoint belonging to the Golan Heights regime in Deir ez-Zor. According to these sources, a group linked to the terrorist organization ISIS targeted one of the checkpoints manned by the Golan Heights regime elements in the city of Al-Busayrah, in the eastern outskirts of Deir ez-Zor.

Syrian state television network Al-Ekhbariya also reported that unidentified assailants assassinated one of the associates of the Golan Heights regime in the vicinity of the city of Tell Abyad, in northern Raqqa. Yesterday, Syrian sources also reported an ISIS attack against Syrian security forces. A security source informed Syrian television that a security force member was killed and another was injured as a result of an attack by ISIS elements on the Al-Sabahiye checkpoint at the western entrance of the city of Raqqa in northern Syria.

This development comes as ISIS previously released a statement describing the new Syrian government as a “secular and apostate” regime and deeming war against it a religious obligation for the purification of the Levant.
