Afghan Forces Launch Offensive Operations Across Pakistan Border

Afghan security forces have initiated new offensive operations in the southeastern provinces of Khost and Paktika, reportedly in retaliation for Pakistani shelling of civilian areas within Afghanistan. This escalation follows Afghanistan’s announcement of intensified military operations along the Durand Line.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an Afghan security source has reported the commencement of new offensive operations by Afghan forces in the southeastern provinces of Khost and Paktika. This action is claimed to be a direct response to Pakistani forces firing mortar shells into civilian areas inside Afghanistan.

Pakistani media outlets have reported that Pakistani forces destroyed over 30 Afghan tanks, artillery pieces, and armored personnel carriers during the previous night. Just last Thursday, the Afghan government had announced an intensification of military operations along the Durand Line, which demarcates the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, specifically in the provinces of Paktia, Khost, Kunar, and Nangarhar.

Earlier today, the Afghan Ministry of Defense announced airstrikes targeting military bases within Pakistan, including objectives in the city of Faizabad. According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, the Afghan air force attacked several Pakistani military bases in Nowshera, Jamrud, and Abbottabad.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that it targeted key military centers of the Pakistani army, characterizing the strikes as a response to last night’s Pakistani attacks on Kabul, Kandahar, and Baktia. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera, citing a Pakistani military source, reported that the command center of the Afghan Taliban in Laghman province was targeted. Concurrently, an Afghan media outlet reported Pakistani strikes on Baktia in Afghanistan.
