US Consulate in Peshawar Permanently Closes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of State has notified Congress of its intention to permanently close Washington’s consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, as reported by Mehr News Agency, citing NBC News.
NBC News highlighted the Peshawar consulate’s significance as Washington’s most crucial diplomatic center for operations in Afghanistan since 2001, owing to its proximity to the Afghan border.
The U.S. Department of State cited cost-saving measures as the reason for closing this vital diplomatic facility in Central Asia. This closure follows an incident where the consulate was targeted by Pakistani protesters after the U.S. and the Zionist regime attacked Iranian territory.
Following the Pakistani protestor attack on the U.S. consulate in Peshawar, the center’s activities were suspended.
The U.S. consulate in Peshawar had served as a significant point for providing services and support to Afghans who had collaborated with the United States and NATO.
