Russia Demands Immediate Halt to US and Israeli Aggression, Affirms Iran’s Right to Self-Defense

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reacted to recent regional developments on Thursday. She unequivocally supported Iran’s legitimate right to defend itself in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, calling on the United States and the Israeli regime to immediately end their military aggressions and engage in dialogue.
Zakharova stated that Iran, like all nations, possesses the right to legitimate defense. “We call on the United States and Israel to cease their aggressions and return to the negotiating table,” she added.
She also emphasized the critical importance of restraint and the application of common sense in the ongoing Middle East conflict, urging an end to double standards.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson deemed it essential to return to efforts aimed at swiftly resolving conflicts based on the principle of good neighborliness.
Zakharova further elaborated that Russia will continue its endeavors to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and resolve disputes through peaceful means.
She also underscored Russia’s commitment to pursuing an approach that respects collective and indivisible security in the Persian Gulf region, ensuring the interests of all parties.
Earlier, Yury Ushakov, Aide to the Russian President, had announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a recent phone call with US President Donald Trump, had raised points concerning diplomatic and political solutions for the crisis against Iran.
Concluding her remarks, Zakharova indicated Russia’s readiness to present specific proposals for resolving the crisis in the Middle East, noting that intensive consultations are underway, though she declined to disclose details of these proposals.
