France Demands Israel End ‘Illegal Occupation’ of Lebanese Territory

French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu urged Israel on Wednesday to cease its ‘illegal occupation’ of Lebanese territory, warning that the regime’s military strategy is undermining regional stability and must respect a fragile ceasefire.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu called on the Israeli regime on Wednesday to end its “illegal occupation” of Lebanese territory, warning that the regime’s military strategy is undermining regional stability.

Speaking before the French National Assembly, the Prime Minister stated that a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon must be respected and criticized the ongoing military operations by the Israeli regime.

“At the very least, this ceasefire is fragile, and one could even describe it as a ceasefire by fire, which is unacceptable,” Lecornu said. “However, it is clear that not only must the ceasefire be respected, but Israel must end this war and its illegal occupation of Lebanese territory.”

Lecornu argued that the conflict against Lebanon cannot be separated from broader efforts to address tensions involving Iran, noting that France has repeatedly cautioned its allies against sidelining the issue of Lebanon.

He emphasized, “If the issue of Lebanon is sidelined, there will be no comprehensive solution to the war with Iran.”
