Jordanian King Emphasizes Need to Cement Iran-US Ceasefire, Regional Security

King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Hebat Al-Halbousi in Amman, stressing the critical need to solidify a ceasefire between Iran and the United States and ensure regional security and sovereignty.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, King Abdullah II of Jordan met with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Hebat Al-Halbousi in Amman, the Jordanian capital, on Sunday.

During their meeting, both sides underscored the importance of strengthening the robust relationship between Iraq and Jordan across various sectors. Discussions also centered on the latest regional developments.

According to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court, King Abdullah II highlighted the necessity of intensifying efforts to establish and solidify a ceasefire between Iran and the United States, emphasizing the paramount importance of ensuring the security and sovereignty of Arab nations.

The King also pointed to the need to prevent the exploitation of the region’s volatile situation as a pretext for imposing new realities in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza.

Prior to this meeting, Al-Halbousi had also met with his Jordanian counterpart. In that session, extensive discussions took place regarding avenues to enhance bilateral ties and foster joint parliamentary coordination within regional and international forums. Al-Halbousi conveyed Iraq’s keen interest in developing relations with Jordan across all fields, with a particular focus on energy projects.
