EU Imposes New Sanctions on Iran Amid Red Sea Tensions

The European Union has announced new sanctions targeting individuals and entities in Iran, citing alleged interference with freedom of navigation. The bloc is also calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the European Union has announced the imposition of new sanctions against Iran. The decision was reported by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.

Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that the bloc has agreed to sanction Iranian individuals and entities, alleging that these measures are in response to Iran’s obstruction of freedom of navigation. Kallas further asserted that the conflict must cease immediately and the Strait of Hormuz reopened.

Additionally, Kallas called for broader discussions concerning more complex issues between Tehran and Washington.
