US Imposes Sanctions on Nine Individuals and Entities Over Alleged Iran Ties

The U.S. Treasury Department has sanctioned nine individuals and entities, alleging their involvement in supplying weapons for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its Ministry of Defense. This move is framed by the U.S. as ‘economic rage’ aimed at disrupting Iran’s military procurement networks.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Treasury Department announced on Wednesday, local time, that it has sanctioned nine individuals and entities it claims have been involved in procuring and supplying weapons for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL). The Treasury Department repeated Washington’s long-standing allegations in its announcement.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, a proponent of maximum pressure against the Islamic Republic of Iran, asserted, “Through economic rage, the Treasury Department is disrupting foreign procurement networks that support Iran’s military efforts to acquire weapons.” He defended this maximum pressure approach, which the Trump administration rebranded as ‘economic rage,’ stating, “The Treasury Department has frozen Iran’s government assets, severely disrupted its economy, and stalled Iran’s war machine.”

The U.S. Treasury Department indicated that among the sanctioned individuals and entities are individuals and companies based in China and Hong Kong.

These sanctions and military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran occur as the Trump administration, seeking to exit a self-created crisis following a potential war against Iran and its global political and economic ramifications, is pursuing a diplomatic approach. This strategy aims at reaching an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran that fulfills U.S. demands.

Despite announcements of a ceasefire in Iran and Lebanon and ongoing negotiations for an agreement, the United States and Israel continue to violate these ceasefires and persist with their attacks.
