A gunman opened fire outside the residence of Yemen’s self-styled government minister and Aden governor on Thursday evening, resulting in fatalities and injuries, according to local officials.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the home of the minister and governor of Aden, belonging to Yemen‘s self-styled government, was targeted by a gunman on Thursday evening, with local officials reporting that the attacker fired at security forces.

The incident resulted in the deaths of a soldier and a Syrian couple, with several others sustaining injuries. The assailant managed to escape the scene.

The official website of the Ministry of Interior for the self-styled Yemeni government, which is supported by Saudi Arabia, reported via a security source that one of the guards responsible for securing the Aden governor’s residence in the Al-Dirain area fired indiscriminately on Thursday evening. The shooting led to the death of a colleague and injuries to several others.

The source added that a security force immediately intervened to contain the incident and apprehend the suspect, but the individual continued firing. This resulted in the death of a police officer from Al-Dirain, the injury of another officer, and severe injuries to a security guard for facilities and an individual protecting the Al-Sahaba Mosque, who was subsequently moved to intensive care.

According to the security source, a Syrian doctor identified as Samih Ahmed Ahsan and his wife, who were coincidentally in the vicinity of the incident, also lost their lives.

This incident occurred just hours after an explosion at a camp affiliated with the Al-Amaliqa Brigades, aligned with the self-styled government in Aden. Initial reports indicated that the explosion caused 12 deaths and 9 injuries.
