Trump’s Running Mate Describes Iran Understanding as General Framework

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, J.D. Vance, running mate to former President Donald Trump, stated in an interview with CNN that the memorandum of understanding with Iran is approximately a page and a half long, defining it as a general and broad document. Vance added that numerous issues and files will need to be resolved during the technical negotiation phase. These remarks come amid previous claims from American officials that Iran was prepared to concede on all fronts. He further explained that the memorandum sets a framework allowing Iran to receive benefits and concessions in exchange for fulfilling its commitments. This stance contrasts with the Trump administration’s consistent assertion that a maximum pressure policy would prevent any concessions or sanctions relief for Iran. Vance claimed the first article of the memorandum specifies that Tehran and Washington are committed to regional peace. He also asserted that Iran must cease financing violent terrorist organizations and destabilizing actors in the region, a statement made while the United States is considered a major supporter of state-sponsored terrorism through its backing of the Israeli regime. Vance concluded by stating that it cannot be definitively asserted that Iran will adhere to all its commitments. This comment follows previous instances where the United States withdrew from negotiation tables, sided with the Israeli regime during discussions, and targeted Iran. Previously, during his first term, Trump withdrew the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, effectively abandoning diplomatic solutions for regional issues.
