Macron Urges Israeli Restraint in Lebanon, Calls Iran Conflict ‘Not a Good Idea’

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exercise responsibility and rationality in his actions concerning Lebanon, stating that direct conflict with Iran was ‘not a good idea.’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exhibit “responsibility and rationality” in his actions regarding Lebanon. Macron stated, in response to a journalist’s question regarding the initial assessment of recent clashes between Iran and Israel, “I don’t think we can say at this stage that this conflict has been definitively and finally resolved.” The French President emphasized that the aggression against Iran was not the right decision and that agreement is always better than war. He noted that Paris refrained from joining the conflict due to the unclear objectives of Washington. Macron added that the agreement signed provides the basis for a ceasefire, a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon, and the commencement of a 60-day period for negotiations, with the possibility of extending the process if all clauses are not finalized within this timeframe.
