Algeria Wildfires Claim 12 Lives Amid Widespread Blaze

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Algeria‘s Minister of Interior, Kamel Beldjoud, announced on Wednesday evening that 12 individuals lost their lives in wildfires affecting multiple provinces in the northwest of the country, specifically in the Bejaia province.
The minister’s visit to Bejaia was at the direct instruction of the President of Algeria to personally oversee efforts to contain the fires in the province. He was accompanied by the Minister of Health, the Director-General of National Security, and the Director-General of Civil Protection during his tour.
The Civil Protection Organization of Algeria reported that by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, a total of 131 wildfires had been recorded in vegetation areas, with the majority concentrated in the eastern regions of the country. Bejaia province recorded the highest number of incidents with 20 fires, followed by Tizi Ouzou with 13, Skikda with 10, and Jijel with 6.
