US and Iran Negotiators Meet in Switzerland Amidst Pakistan and Qatar Mediation

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US and Iranian negotiators have commenced a quadrilateral meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, with Qatar and Pakistan serving as mediators. This development was reported by Al Jazeera, citing Mehr News Agency.
Axios, quoting an informed diplomatic source, revealed that the summit between Washington and Tehran began with the presence of mediating nations, Qatar and Pakistan. This engagement marks a significant step in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, had told Al Hadath that Pakistan had been successful in persuading both Iran and the United States to engage in discussions aimed at achieving a ceasefire. He highlighted this as a historic achievement, stating that for the first time in 47 years, the US and Iran have been brought closer. Dar emphasized that Pakistan collaborated with its partners and allies to ensure the success of the mediation, underscoring the potentially devastating economic consequences of a conflict between the two nations.
The negotiations involve three technical teams discussing specific dossiers. These committees are currently deliberating on the nuclear program, the issue of frozen assets, and matters concerning Lebanon. A significant point of discussion is the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. According to reports, there will be no transit fees imposed in the Strait of Hormuz for a period of 60 days. China has expressed support for unimpeded passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, and ships are currently navigating the waterway in both directions.
