Rosatom Demands Security Guarantees Before Returning Staff to Bushehr Nuclear Plant Amid Ukraine Attacks

Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, will not send its specialists back to Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant until 100% security is guaranteed, as CEO Alexey Likhachev highlights Ukraine’s continued shelling of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and Enerhodar city.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom, announced on Sunday that his company will not return Russian specialists to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant until the complete security of these personnel is assured.

Likhachev stated that Kyiv continues to target the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and the city of Enerhodar, with over 60 attack attempts registered in the past 24 hours. He asserted that these attacks aim to demoralize plant staff and city residents but will ultimately fail.

The Rosatom chief further criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for what he described as a dual approach to Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, calling for a resolution to this situation. He pointed to the significant Western influence within the IAEA’s Board of Governors, suggesting it hinders a clear stance on the Ukrainian assaults on the nuclear facility. Moscow intends to inform the international community about Ukraine’s efforts to maximize terror among the residents of Enerhodar.

Likhachev concluded by stating that the current global circumstances do not impede Rosatom’s operations, and the company continues to increase its order volume and the number of overseas nuclear power plant construction projects.
