Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Denounces Washington Agreement as ‘Dictate’

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has launched a scathing critique of an agreement signed in Washington, labeling it a “dictate” rather than a mechanism for safeguarding Lebanon‘s rights. In an interview with Al-Akhbar newspaper, Berri warned that the accord could pave the way for internal sedition and division within Lebanon, ultimately benefiting the Israeli regime.
Berri elaborated on his assessment, stating, “This agreement is not an agreement to preserve Lebanon’s rights; rather, it is a collection of dictates.” He drew a stark comparison to the May 17, 1983 agreement, asserting that the current accord is “ten times worse” than its predecessor.
The Speaker further articulated his concerns, emphasizing that the agreement represents a form of “sedition” that threatens the unity of Lebanon and its people. He concluded by noting, “When I call this agreement ‘sedition,’ it signifies the highest level of political warning.”
