Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Honors Martyred Leader of Islamic Revolution

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, has released a message on the occasion of the farewell ceremony for the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. The message was published based on data released by the Mehr News Agency.
The message began with the Quranic verse: “Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties for [the price of] paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. It is a true promise [incumbent] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’an. And who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And that is the great attainment.” (Quran 9:111)
In his message, Berri addressed the “Imam,” stating that some words transcend dictionaries, some positions go beyond time, and some individuals stand apart, embodying “a nation in the stature of one man.” He affirmed that the martyred leader would remain immortal in the memory of generations as an eternal model, whose pioneering stances awakened the oppressors, tyrants, and aggressors. Berri recalled the leader’s principle: “Neither East nor West… and aiding the oppressed is worship.”
Berri connected this to the Iranian Islamic Revolution, which he witnessed and lived through, linking it to Imam Sayyid Musa al-Sadr and the late Imam Khomeini, alongside Martyr Mostafa Chamran. He referenced Imam al-Sadr’s “Call of the Prophets,” which addressed both the East and West in relation to Iran and Lebanon.
The Lebanese Speaker described the martyred Imam as a shining sun for a new dawn, noting that he first had the honor of meeting him in the early 1990s. During that meeting, the leader guided him to the status of great Imams and encapsulated all that was, should be, and what could heal wounds. Berri quoted the leader saying, “My dear brother, Professor Nabih, and through you, to our dear brothers and sisters in the Amal Movement; your flesh is from my flesh, and your blood is from my blood. Your peace is my peace, and your war is my war. We are offspring of one another. Unity, then unity, then unity; and that is in all arenas.”
Berri stated that they embraced this unifying message, which is now universally spoken, especially in the face of the Zionist enemy that targeted children and the elderly in Lebanon, aiming to eradicate the spirit of resistance. He described the enemy’s devastation of the country, leaving only remnants of some villages and a sea of martyrs, wounded, prisoners, and steadfast individuals who remain committed to their ideals, the trigger of resistance, and the preservation of the will.
Reflecting on the current month of Muharram, Berri invoked the example of Imam Hussein (AS), as a beacon of guidance and a timeless cry of history: “Pure wombs, noble ancestors, proud dignity, and exalted souls who never prefer obedience to the wicked over martyrdom of the free; and no matter how heavy the price of sacrifices, they will never change their path.”
He described the fate of the Imams and the martyred leader, from their pure lineage, as being martyred unjustly and through treachery, as was the case when he was in the prayer niche with the Quran in his hands during the Night of Qadr. Berri recalled his final pilgrimage with the leader from Tehran to Najaf, Karbala, Samarra, and finally to the holy Mashhad and the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), remembering the leader’s eternal cry: “I see as if the wolves of the desert are tearing apart my limbs; and every day is Ashura.”
Berri reiterated words he spoke to the leader during his last meeting when offering condolences for the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi and his companions, dedicating them to the Supreme Leader, Seyyed Mojtaba, the leadership of the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian nation: “The wounds inflicted upon the bodies of our brethren in the Islamic Republic of Iran are wounds inflicted upon the body of every honorable Lebanese.”
He concluded by stating that the most honorable death is martyrdom, and praised the land that embraces his body, welcoming the noblest guests in the station of martyrdom, alongside prophets, divine saints, Imams, and the truthful. The message ended with the Quranic verse: “And to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. And sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.”
