Israel Military Extends Mandatory Service Amid Severe Troop Shortages

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel‘s Channel 12 reported that due to a severe shortage of troops in the Israeli army, soldiers nearing the end of their mandatory service will immediately receive an emergency summons order (Order 8). This measure effectively extends their compulsory service by two months.
This exceptional step has been taken to enable the Israeli army to carry out the numerous duties and missions it is tasked with. Economically, the high cost of maintaining each reservist soldier will impose a substantial financial strain on the Israeli cabinet.
The Israeli army has faced a shortage of manpower and increased pressure on its combat units since the start of the war against the Gaza Strip. In recent months, the continuation of the war, troop attrition, and disagreements over the exemption of Haredi men from military service have exacerbated the personnel supply crisis within the army.
