Pakistan Senate Chairman: Regional Peace Hinges on Iran’s Progress

Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate, met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, in Tehran, asserting that regional peace and stability are directly linked to Iran’s advancements.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, engaged in discussions with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, on the sidelines of ceremonies honoring a martyred leader and bidding farewell to martyrs’ remains. The meeting took place in Tehran.

Ghalibaf expressed gratitude for the presence of the Pakistani parliamentary delegation and thanked the people of Pakistan for their solidarity during the “Ramadan War,” stating, “We are appreciative of the people and officials of Pakistan; the people of Pakistan are friends in times of joy and hardship.”

Yousaf Raza Gilani conveyed his condolences to the people and officials of Iran on the martyrdom of the late leader of the Islamic Revolution. Recalling his numerous past visits to Tehran, Gilani noted, “When I was the Speaker of the National Assembly, I traveled to Tehran for the funeral of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Subsequently, during my tenure as Prime Minister and in other responsibilities, I visited Iran on many occasions.”

The Chairman of the Pakistani Senate further remarked, “Most of these visits occurred during the time when Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was the Leader of Iran, and I witnessed that during this period, many transformations took place in Iran, and the country took effective steps forward.”

Gilani highlighted the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the arenas of struggle and diplomacy, asserting, “I see a bright future for Iran, and with Iran’s progress, peace and stability in the region will also move forward.”

Concluding his remarks, the Chairman of the Pakistani Senate emphasized the necessity of strengthening parliamentary cooperation. “There are many opportunities for cooperation between the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran and the Senate of Pakistan, and I believe that the development of people-to-people relations at various levels, as well as the interactions between the officials of the two countries, can lead to greater breakthroughs in bilateral relations,” he stated.
